Why Mermaid Waters chooses us
Why Mermaid Waters Locals Choose Gold Coast Demolitions
Most Mermaid Waters homes back onto a canal or lake. That changes how a demolition is done. The house comes down, but the revetment wall, the water and the neighbours' gardens all stay as they were.
Waterfront Protected
Machines are kept back from the revetment wall, and rubble and runoff are kept out of the canal.
Asbestos Checked First
Homes from the 1970s and 80s are surveyed, and any asbestos is removed by licensed removalists before work starts.
Pools Out Properly
Old pools are broken up, removed and the hole compacted in layers, so the new build sits on firm ground.
Partial Demolition Too
Keeping the house? Rear extensions, carports and patios are taken off without harming the part that stays.
Written Quote Before We Start
A free site inspection covers access, asbestos, the pool and the waterfront, so nothing on the block is missed.
Approvals and Disconnections Sorted
Building approval, notifications and disconnection of power, water, gas and NBN organised for you.

What's Different About Demolition in Mermaid Waters
Mermaid Waters, in short
Mermaid Waters sits about seven kilometres south of Surfers Paradise, just inland from Mermaid Beach. Broadbeach and Pacific Fair are to the north, Robina to the west, and Burleigh Waters and Miami to the south. It's a suburb built around water, with canals and lakes running through it, including the freshwater Lake Hugh Muntz. Bermuda Street runs through it, and Hooker Boulevard, Markeri Street and Sunshine Boulevard carry most of the local traffic.
Brick-and-tile homes on the water
The estates here were built through the 1970s and 80s, starting just south of Pacific Fair, and the suburb was formally named in 1981. It is almost entirely canal estates and lakes. The original homes are mostly brick-and-tile lowsets on large blocks, many of them with a canal or lake at the back fence. More of them are now coming down for new two-storey homes, while others are kept and extended. So jobs here range from a full knockdown with pool removal to taking off an old rear extension. Anything built before 1990 is surveyed for asbestos first.
Low ground and the waterfront
Before the canals were dug, this was flat grazing land with swamps. It's still low-lying, and Mermaid Waters has been named in council flood warnings for the Nerang River. Waterfront owners are responsible for their own revetment walls, and works near the water can need council approval. So we keep heavy machines back from the wall, keep rubble and runoff out of the canal, and backfill and compact every hole left by footings and pools.
The council, and getting to you
Mermaid Waters is in the City of Gold Coast. Most demolitions need building approval, and waterfront or flood-affected lots can have extra requirements, so Gold Coast Demolitions checks what applies to your lot before quoting. Trucks come in via Bermuda Street or Hooker Boulevard, with timing and parking on the residential streets planned with the neighbours in mind.

It shouldn't. The owner is responsible for the wall, so we treat it as part of the job: machines are kept back from it, the ground near it is worked by hand or with smaller gear, and nothing is pushed toward the water.
