Why Palm Beach chooses us

Why Palm Beach Locals Choose Gold Coast Demolitions

Palm Beach sits between two creeks, on a grid of numbered avenues that fills up fast with new homes and apartments. Gold Coast Demolitions works out the access, the planning rules and the ground for your lot before anything is quoted.

Surveyed Before It Comes Down

Brick homes from the late 60s and 70s and older fibro beach houses can contain asbestos. It's found first and removed by licensed removalists.

Written Quote Before We Start

The site inspection covers access, asbestos and everything on the block, so nothing on the block is missed.

Tight Avenues

East of the highway the avenues are short and the laneways narrow. Truck loading, parking and dust are planned, and neighbours hear from us first.

Planning Rules Checked

Heights and density near Jefferson Lane were cut back in 2019. We check the rules on your lot and handle building approval and disconnections.

Creeks and Canals Considered

Blocks near Tallebudgera Creek, Currumbin Creek or the canals are checked for flood and site overlays before we quote.

Cleared and Carted Away

Brick, tile and concrete hauled off, materials recycled where possible, and the block left level for your builder.

What's Different About Demolition in Palm Beach

Palm Beach, in short

Palm Beach is the stretch of coast between Tallebudgera Creek and Currumbin Creek, south of Burleigh Heads. The Gold Coast Highway runs down the middle and the Pacific Motorway forms its western edge, with Elanora and Currumbin Waters beyond it. The streets off the highway are numbered, First Avenue at the southern end up to Twenty-eighth. It's also in the middle of a wave of new apartment buildings.

A 1920s estate, a 60s building boom

The first Palm Beach blocks went on sale in 1922, and early owners built timber or fibro beach houses. Most of the homes you see now came later, in the late 1960s and early 70s, and most are brick veneer homes on generous blocks. That's why most jobs here are brick home knockdowns and old beach houses making way for new homes or townhouses. Anything built before 1990 gets an asbestos survey before work starts.

Creeks, canals and low ground

Both creeks shape the suburb. In the 1960s a low-lying inlet off Tallebudgera Creek in the north was formed into lakes for a canal estate, and heavy rain in the Currumbin and Tallebudgera valleys has brought flooding to the southern Gold Coast before. So blocks near the water are checked for flood and site overlays. Slabs and footings are removed completely and the ground is backfilled and compacted for the new build.

Council, avenues and Jefferson Lane

Palm Beach is in the City of Gold Coast. Most demolitions need building approval, and in 2019 council lowered the height and density allowed near Jefferson Lane after saying the lane had limited capacity. Gold Coast Demolitions checks what applies to your lot before quoting. Trucks come in off the Gold Coast Highway or the M1, and loading on the short avenues and laneways is planned around parking and neighbours.

Demolition in Palm Beach, Answered

The price depends on the size and construction of the building, any asbestos, access from the street or lane, and what else is on the block. After a free site inspection you get a written quote covering approvals, surveys, demolition, waste and site clearance.

Most house demolitions in the City of Gold Coast need building approval, and some properties have extra planning requirements. We check what applies to your lot and organise the approval.

Yes. Brick veneer homes from that era make up much of Palm Beach. The house is checked for asbestos first, then the brick, tile and slab are removed and the block is levelled for your builder.

We check your lot for flood and site overlays before quoting, plan machine access around the water's edge, and backfill and compact the ground properly once slabs and footings are out.

Council lowered future heights and density near Jefferson Lane in 2019. The demolition itself still needs building approval, and Gold Coast Demolitions checks the planning rules for your lot so you know where you stand before the house comes down.

Yes. Strip-outs of shops, apartments, kitchens and bathrooms are planned around neighbours, body corporates and access, and quoted after a site inspection.

Most home demolitions take 3 to 7 days on site, after the asbestos survey, approvals and disconnections are done.
