Why Surfers chooses us
Why Surfers Paradise Locals Choose Gold Coast Demolitions
Surfers Paradise is two jobs in one suburb. On the coastal strip it's older unit blocks and shops, squeezed between towers. Across the river it's canal homes on quiet streets. Gold Coast Demolitions plans each one differently.
Unit Blocks Taken Down Safely
Older walk-up blocks come down in a planned order, with services cut, neighbours protected and the street kept open.
Written Quote Before We Start
A free site inspection covers access, asbestos and everything on the block, so the quote covers the whole job.
Tight Access Planned
Loading, truck times and parking are worked out around the light rail, traffic and busy footpaths in the centre.
Asbestos Checked First
Units, shops and homes built before 1990 are surveyed, and any asbestos is removed by licensed removalists before work starts.
Canal Lots Checked
Canal-front homes sit on built-up land by the water, so flood overlays and the waterfront edge are checked before we quote.
Approvals and Disconnections Sorted
Building approval, notifications and disconnection of power, water, gas and NBN organised for you.

What's Different About Demolition in Surfers Paradise
Surfers Paradise, in short
Surfers Paradise is the centre of the Gold Coast, with Southport about four kilometres north and Main Beach, Bundall and Broadbeach around it. The Nerang River runs north behind the beach, leaving a narrow coastal strip where the town began. Across the water are the canal neighbourhoods of Isle of Capri, Chevron Island and Paradise Waters, and the suburb reaches back to Bundall Road. The light rail runs through the middle, past Cavill Avenue.
Two kinds of job
On the coastal strip, towers sit beside older low-rise apartment blocks, hostels and houses. The council has long expected this area to be redeveloped at higher density, and new towers are still going up, so walk-up unit blocks and shop strip-outs are the common jobs. On the canal islands it's different. Isle of Capri was sold as house blocks in the early 1960s, and high-rise isn't allowed there, so the work is older homes coming down for new ones.
Sand, water and the canals
Chevron Island was built up by sand pumping, and some of the canal islands sit on land reclaimed when the canals were dug. Close to the beach, deep excavations for basements have needed dewatering to keep sites dry. For house demolitions, that means footings and pools are taken out carefully and the ground backfilled and compacted properly. Canal properties were on storm surge alert when ex-Cyclone Alfred came through in 2025, so we check your lot's flood overlays first.
The council, and getting in
Surfers Paradise is in the City of Gold Coast. Most demolitions need building approval, and some properties have extra planning requirements, so Gold Coast Demolitions checks what applies before quoting. In the centre, trucks work around the Gold Coast Highway, Ferny Avenue and the light rail. The canal islands are reached by bridge, including Thomas Drive to Chevron Island, so machinery is booked in and out to suit.

Demolition in Surfers Paradise, Answered
It depends on the size and construction of the building, whether asbestos is present, access on the street, and what else is on the block. After a free site inspection you get a written quote covering approvals, surveys, demolition, waste and site clearance.
Yes. Unit blocks need more planning around services, strata, access and the buildings on either side. Gold Coast Demolitions quotes them after a site inspection.
Most demolitions in the City of Gold Coast need building approval, and some properties have extra planning requirements. We check what applies to your lot and organise it.
Truck movements and loading are booked around the light rail, traffic and foot traffic, loading is kept inside the site where possible, and neighbours and tenants are told before work starts.
It can. Canal properties sit on built-up land by the water and were on storm surge alert in 2025. We check flood overlays and the waterfront edge, and plan the backfill so the block is stable for the new build.
Older unit blocks, shops and homes built before 1990 may contain asbestos in wall sheeting, eaves or wet areas. It's surveyed before demolition and removed by licensed removalists.
Most home demolitions take 3 to 7 days on site, after the asbestos survey, approvals and disconnections are done. Unit blocks and commercial buildings take longer and are scheduled after inspection.
